Nahana Foundation

The Nahana Foundation is the corporate social investment (CSI) arm of the Nahana Communications Group. The Foundation leverages Nahana’s rich creative experience to maximise non-profit clients’ marketing efforts in order to influence positive change in South Africa.

With the unwavering belief that creativity can change the world, the Nahana Foundation invests over R4 million in professional services for pro-bono campaigns every year, which has assisted many non-profits with their marketing and branding efforts, advancing their mandates for positive change.

Our objectives

We identified a problem within the non-profit sector, too many organisations lacked a clear brand and marketing strategy which is easy to understand and move people to action. The Nahana Foundation is a registered NPC and PBO and is made up of development and marketing experts who understand the vast differences between sectors, but more importantly they have an innate passion and drive to change human behavior for the better.

We do this by facilitating services to selected clients (NPO’s) who might not in normal circumstances have the financial resources to use best-of-breed agencies to create world class integrated marketing campaigns.

We offer

The Foundation assists with maximizing the marketing efforts of non-profit clients by drawing on the rich creative experience of the founding agency, who donates their most valuable asset, their talent, to the Foundation. The Foundation facilitates the application process and management of all the pro-bono clients.

Process of application

Once a month the Foundation committee sits to review new applications.
The considerations will be made on the type of cause; the level of need; the clarity of what is required by the applicant; and the impact this work will have on society.

However, we aren’t swayed by how big or small the organisation is or the reach it has. What we want to do is ensure that deserving organisations in the nonprofit community benefit from the same quality of communications and brand development as that of the commercial world.

Process of application
Funding criteria

An organisation must be a registered NPC, Trust or PBO. Organisations must have been in operation for longer than 2 years. The Nahana head office is based in South Africa (with presence in Johannesburg and Cape Town), and unfortunately we cannot include travel in our pro bono services. Should any successful applicant in South Africa fall outside of Gauteng and the Western Cape, they should be prepared to travel for meetings on their own budget, or be able to Skype or video conference for meetings and approvals. Applicants outside of South Africa will only be considered after consultation with our affiliate partners.

Organisations must fall within the Nahana Foundation core focus areas, which are:

Education
Social and community development
Entrepreneur and small
business support
Health
Environment

NB

The Nahana Foundation will not provide support to the following types of organisations:

  • Political organisations
  • Activities or any activity that promotes division, sexism, racism or any other kind of discrimination
  • Projects outside Africa
  • Denominational activities
  • Activities that may cause environmental degradation
  • Organisations with a history of misuse of funds
